(Personal experience + district accountability)
Special Education: A Personal Mission
I know what it’s like to sit in an IEP meeting and feel overwhelmed or discouraged.. I’ve walked the road of fighting for services, questioning compliance, and trying to make sense of a complex system all while raising an autistic child.
This isn’t theory to me or guessing from the sidelines. It’s lived experience.
As a board member, I will:
- Hold the district accountable for IEP compliance.
- Promote meaningful inclusion … not just lip service.
- Support open, respectful communication with parents.
- Ensure transitions (realignments, placements) never endanger student safety.
- Ensure any violations of IEP’s, 504’s or the IDEA are properly handled
- Advocate for parents and students by providing all necessary resources and information needed to ensure a free and appropriate education for every child
This is more than advocacy. It’s a promise to families like mine.
